Jacobs Hockey Update

As I mentioned a few posts ago, Jacob's hockey is winding down and they are deep in the playoffs. The "A" championship would be decided by two games against the dreaded "Green Team". In the regular season they finished 1st overall and we were second. They had beat us 3 times going into this 2 game series, so although we tried to stay positive even the kids new this was going to be tough. I overheard one kid from Jacob's team wondering out loud how bad they would beat us...."...do you think it will be 10 or 15 too nothing?", he asked.

As it turned out we were up 2 - 0 in the first game, but with only a minute left they came back and won 3-2...a real heart breaker. The second game was no contest, as they went on to beat us 10-2. The kids were fine with it, after all it is just a game.

They had the awards banquet for his team this past Sunday and the video can be found below. Jacob was given a special award for "Most Improved" and it can be found at the 6:55 mark of the video. Funny story.....after he got his awards I went up to him and saying "Hey buddy that's awesome!" and he responded " I know we get pizza and cake". Another reminder that at his age the hockey will always be an after thought compared to friends and food...the way it should be.

He started summer hockey Sunday morning and Jacob did very well. He was rated very high after the evaluation camp and later that day was selected third in the draft that involved 68 players . He was one of only 3 underage players (he is 6 playing against kids 7 + 8 ), so this was very cool and I'm very proud of him.

Congratulations buddy!
