Solo Trip was a bit on the crazy side..

The trip was a great learning experience and turned out to be more then I thought it would be. That said, I ended up coming home early because of damage caused to my canoe and my hammock when a tornado touched down on the southern part of Pen Lake....that's right, I said a tornado! I will do a full write up about the experience in the next few weeks, but for now I am focused on CC2007!

Gerry and I had planned on staying at the hotel across from McCools in "downtown" Mattawa, but it's completely booked. Who would have guessed Mattawa would be such a popular tourist destination? Anyway, we have booked at the Welcome Inn (same place as last year...) for the night of August 2nd.

I don't have much time today, but I promise to update on Friday!

Yip - saw the clouds spinning and dipping down towards Pen - I was on Galeairy Lake - were hit by a near tornado - crazy weather huh!?

Can't wait to see your post on details!

Cheers,
Simon

Just a casual reader (from outside Boston) who ran into your blog a while ago. I was slightly surprised not to see a post from you in a while after you headed out on your solo trip, so I hope you'll post about what happened soon. But glad to hear you are fine and looking forward to your next trip. We're planning a trip into Algonquin in early September and really looking forward to it.

Anyway, thanks for the blog -- it's a fun read.

Hi there! Another casual reader for the past year and a bit...sorry to hear about the storm. I know what it's like and am glad to hear you made it out alright. It's amazing what some duct tape can do sometimes, and how helpful and friendly other campers and the park staff are. Looking forward to reading the full report.

Thanks guys!

I will have the full detailed report posted soon. It is about half done. I am really taking my time with it, cause I want to get everything right and I hope you will agree that it was worth the wait!

Thanks again for reading!
